This dilapidated farmhouse in a rural setting near Falmouth received an ambitious, yet sensitive remodelling and energy efficiency retrofit. Poor quality late C20 extensions were removed and replaced with simple modern low energy spaces clad externally in locally sourced green oak. The heart of the house (hallway and staircase) was restored, a glass link added and living spaces opened into one another centred around a generous kitchen dining room. With high levels of insulation, the house has much lower energy bills, high comfort and excellent indoor air quality.
