“We are delighted with ARCO2s sympathetic and imaginative transformation and extension of a damp, dilapidated 17th centrury farmhouse and piggery into a light and warm living space, incorporating the latest eco friendly principles for heating and insulation with locally sourced building materials.“
Project
This 17th century cottage has been sympathetically upgraded, repaired and extended while also retaining the character and feel both internally and externally.
RETENTION OF LOCAL HERITAGE
It was incredibly important to the client that the conversion was both a worthy contribution to the local area while also maintaining its character and spirit.
DESIGN FEATURES:
- Minimal intervention
- Quality timber joinery
- Great care taken to not impact the front of the cottage

- Under floor heating
LOCAL NATURAL MATERIALS
Externally the old cement pointing has been removed and repointed with a lime based mortar allowing the walls to finally breath.
- Slate roof and hanging
- Double glazed soft wood windows
- Natural stone work
