Kosel coastal home in Mawgan Porth with temporary roof structure and wildflower green roof construction underway in sunny weather.

Sustainable Coastal Design Taking Shape at Kosel

Progress continues at Kosel in Mawgan Porth, where the building is now nearing a weather-tight milestone and the vision for this exceptional coastal home is becoming increasingly visible.

Recent works have focused on the terrace and roof build-up, with a temporary roof installed to allow key elements including the vapour control layer, cut-to-falls insulation and single ply membrane to be completed in controlled conditions. These layers will support an extensive wildflower green roof and terrace system designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.

Environmental consideration has remained central throughout the design approach. The living roofscape has been carefully planned not only to encourage biodiversity and improve environmental performance, but also to preserve neighbouring sea views while enhancing privacy to the garden spaces below.

Projects such as Kosel demonstrate how thoughtful modern construction can balance high-quality design, sustainability and sensitivity to the local environment.

We are incredibly grateful to Westhaven Construction Cornwall and Westhaven Developments for their commitment and resilience in keeping the project moving through an exceptionally wet winter period.

The emergence of the building’s final form marks an exciting stage in the journey, and we look forward to sharing further progress soon.
