Having been in the family since the 1700’s this barn conversion needed to be sympathetically designed.
TRANSFORMING A FORMER DAIRY HOUSE
Working closely with the client, ARCO2 transformed this former dairy house in Mid Cornwall into a contemporary family home designed around light, flow and modern living. The redesign introduced a more creative and practical layout that made far better use of the existing structure while creating bright and welcoming living spaces.
The project carefully balanced contemporary architecture with the character of the original building, creating a home that feels both modern and connected to its rural surroundings. Thoughtful spatial planning and carefully selected materials helped turn the property into a comfortable and highly functional home.
Designed for long term living, the finished house combines contemporary Cornish architecture with practical family focused design and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.

BEAUTIFUL HOLIDAY LET
Located amongst generous grounds this property lent itself to serve multiple occupancy in terms of providing plenty of amenity space for large families or groups of friends.
Design features include five bedrooms, an open plan kitchen and dining area, and a striking feature spiral staircase.
LOCALLY SOURCED MATERIAL
This beautiful renovation and extension utilised many locally sourced materials. An important factor of the design to make sure the dwelling was in keeping with its history.
Design features include the use of granite with lime mortars, exposed green oak beams, and a traditional natural slate finish.
SUSTAINABLE FEATURES
Careful consideration was taken to incorporate key sustainable building principles that would help reduce the lifecycle of the building and importantly provide a more comfortable internal environment.
Design features include a rainwater harvesting system, natural sheep’s wool insulation, and a sedum green roof.
