DUTTON
“ARCO2 have provided an excellent service from start to finish incorporating innovative designs with ECO friendly building techniques.” – Liz Dutton
Project
Dutton is a full refurbishment and extension project that transformed an existing coastal home in Cornwall into a contemporary residence carefully designed around its surroundings. The architectural approach focused on modernising the property while maintaining a strong connection to the landscape and character of the site.
Through thoughtful remodelling and extension work, the home was reshaped to improve natural light, spatial flow and energy performance, creating a contemporary living environment suited to modern coastal life. The design balances clean architectural detailing with a sensitive response to its setting, ensuring the home feels both modern and connected to place.
As experienced Architects Cornwall, we specialise in contemporary refurbishments, extensions and coastal homes across Cornwall, combining sustainable design with carefully considered architecture.
MODERN ARCHITECTURE
The complete redesign allowed for twists and turns of the building’s structure. Using asymmetric angles and a blend of glass, stone and timber, ARCO2 were able to bring this 1970s building into modern life.
Design features include high angled ceilings, an irregular building form, and a contemporary mix of materials.
IMPROVED NATURAL LIGHT
Dutton is designed to maximise sunlight as well as sea views with its abundance of large windows. The most important thing to enhance a home is light.
Design features include large windows, a glass-walled sunspace, and enhancements that add significant value to the overall property.
SUSTAINABLE FEATURES
Dutton was built with the environment in careful mind. Making the most of the encompassing countryside whilst being kind to it.
Design features include a green roof, recycled newspaper insulation, solar panels, and the use of locally grown timber and softwood.
