“We remain delighted and have enjoyed every single day of the process. Your brief was for the building to be timeless with an efficient flow – this has been achieved…thanks for a great design.” – Mr & Mrs Jeffrey
Project Overview
Project Technical

Project

This Fowey project involves remodelling the lower two floors of Great Quoin alongside a contemporary garden extension known as The Cabin, creating a timeless coastal apartment closely connected to its surrounding landscape and gardens.

The design approach focused on improving the relationship between the interior spaces and the beautifully redesigned garden, bringing more natural light, openness and flexibility to the home. By carefully updating the existing building while introducing a modern extension, the project creates a calm and contemporary living environment suited to its coastal setting in Cornwall.

As experienced Architects Cornwall, we work on bespoke remodelling and extension projects across Cornwall, combining thoughtful contemporary design with sensitive responses to existing buildings and landscapes.

MAXIMISING VIEWS & PRIVACY

This unusual but striking modern design nestles into the centre of Fowey within the Conservation Area, almost unnoticed.

Design features include a flat segmented roof, a sweeping glass and steel first-floor balcony, and uninterrupted river views.

MARINE INSPIRED DESIGN

Drawing inspiration from the Fowey sail boats, ARCO2 formed a unique and bespoke building that reflects the environment.

Lighting architecture features a curved, sail-inspired segmented roof, a design that maximises space, and details that celebrate Fowey’s rich maritime heritage.

SUSTAINABLE FEATURES

The building is of course designed to the highest standard, as well as being constructed with sustainable materials.

Design features include recycled newspaper insulation, a flat roof with green sedum matting, thoughtful consideration of neighbouring properties, and exceptionally low running costs.
