Over the last couple of years we have been busy designing some remarkable buildings, not all of which have started on site.  This video shows a compilation of some of the very exciting designs we have created and that will be starting on-site this year.

The majority of these buildings are replacement dwellings on sites with special land designations, with replacement buildings being larger than that of the existing properties.  The key to success in these challenging locations is to design a building that is sympathetic to the landscape character of the site, often using local natural materials and darker colours to sympathetically blend the building with the landscape.  Indeed visual impact is fundamental and wherever possible ARCO2’s aim is to enhance the area in terms of visual appearance, ecology, biodiversity and sustainability.  In many cases the new buildings improve neighbouring properties aspect, which in turn can provide uplift to the area.

Three of the featured projects are in Mawgan Porth, which is a beautiful sandy beach near Watergate Bay and Newquay.  During 2020 two ARCO2 designed projects in Mawgan Porth started works on-site and are due for completion this year, one being constructed by ADD Sustainable Construction.  Our talented Architect’s are also currently developing designs for other projects within Mawgan Porth which will begin construction in 2022.

The video also shows snippets from Polzeath, which is a very popular beach location close to Rock, Trebetherick, Wadebridge and Padstow.  The new property in  Polzeath is another sustainable replacement dwelling which sits alongside another ARCO2 Project in Polzeath called Furzy Close and is again being constructed by ADD Sustainable Construction. The house has been designed using an extra wide blockwork cavity adopting passive house construction principles.  The wildflower green roof was chosen to improve the outlook form Furzy Close and the neighbouring properties, whilst also improving the sites biodiversity.

Other featured replacement dwellings are in the beautiful waterside settings of Falmouth and Seaton.  There are 2 new build properties located in mid Cornwall, one is an innovative self-build housing scheme designed by ARCO2 on a brownfield site which is being run as a Pilot Project for Cornwall Council and the other replaces a Class Q barn.

We will share more on each of these intriguing designs with their own videos over the coming 6 months, keep an eye out on this news section or follow our Facebook Page to see what we are doing first.
