ARCO2 Featured in Drift: Performance by Design

We are pleased to share ARCO2’s recent feature in Drift, which explores the thinking, experience and technical approach behind our work in sustainable architecture and low-energy building design.

Titled Performance by Design, the article looks at how ARCO2’s projects begin long before drawings are produced, with early conversations around performance, materials, comfort, durability and the practical realities of building in Cornwall. From coastal exposure and planning constraints to airtightness, ventilation, renewable technologies and long-term maintenance, the feature reflects the careful balance that shapes our work from concept through to completion.

The article also highlights the role of Passive House methodology within the practice, our integrated relationship with ADD Sustainable Construction, and the importance of close coordination between design, technical detailing and site delivery. This joined-up approach allows us to create buildings that are not only visually considered, but designed to perform reliably and efficiently over time.

Alongside completed and ongoing projects including Keynvor, Turnstones, Highcove, Ladybird Farm and Furzy, the feature reflects on ARCO2’s wider commitment to creating buildings that respond intelligently to their setting, support the needs of their occupants and contribute thoughtfully to Cornwall’s evolving built environment.
